The Beach
Porthkidney Sands Beach allows dogs to enjoy a run on the sand or swim in the sea every day of the year!
Most Cornish beaches ban dogs from Easter to October. Our beach has no seasonal ban, so your hound’s holiday is never restricted.
Based on a broad golden beach and set in the dunes, (or Towans as they are known in Cornwall). There is plenty of room to run that a town Beach can never offer.
Our Beach Houses sit directly above the sand at Lakeland, on Saint Ives Bay stop. Step out of the gate, walk down through the dunes, and your dog is in the sea in under a minute. At low tide, you can walk along. The waterline all the way to Carbis Bay and Saint Ives. At high tide, the south West Coast path starts at the door. Miles and Miles of sand for your fur baby to enjoy!
Wildlife is part of the stay. The beach sits on a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), World Heritage Site and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We neighbour the UK’s most southerly RSPB reserve. Our guests regularly watch seals from the bedroom windows while their pooch dream about their time running on the sand.
Good to know before you pack:
Dogs On Beach: All year, no seasonal ban.
Village Pubs/Cafes: Three and all are dog friendly. The Watermill has a wonderful beer garden. There are two great village Cafes where dogs welcome, not to mention Dunes at our neighbouring Golf Course that allows dogs on leads.
Distance to sand: Bed to beach in less than a minute. Only meters away!
Walk to St. Ives: Yes, walk via the beach at low tide into Carbis Bay and then it is a short section of the Coastal Footpath into St Ives.
Parking: Free on street parking by St Uny Church or there is a pay and display on the quay.
There is no parking at the houses themselves, they sit on the beach. We can help guests with organising 24 hour parking on the nearby quay. This is 200 m from the Beach Houses just along the beach.
AFTER THE BEACH
A salty contented hound, a hot tub and the blue sea still in full view!
The best beach days end with everyone feeling the benefits of the sea air and the exhilaration of spending a day amongst nature.
All our houses are equipped with what’s necessary to rinse down the sand and an area for both owner and hound to dry off. There’s a bit of extra TLC for owners who want to have a late afternoon or evening soak in the Hot Tub under the stars!
- Enclosed private heated pool at the ferry house
- Three hot tubs, one per house, with sea views

THE HOUSES
Three houses, all on the sand, all dogs welcome. It is typically two dogs per property but this does depend upon the breed and size of pooch.
